Zesty Turkey Meatballs with Mint Yogurt Sauce recipe

There’s an air of foreign travel in thesemeatballs that make a hearty snack with drinks or dinner servedwith rice.

Recipe: Zesty Turkey Meatballswith Mint Yogurt Sauce

2 cups vegetable oil
1 1/2 pounds ground turkey
1 (15.5-ounce) can garbanzo beans, rinsed drained and mashed
1 large egg, beaten
1 tablespoon crushed dried oregano
1 tablespoon paprika
2 teaspoons garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 cup seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup plain yogurt
1 lemon, juiced
2 tablespoons chopped fresh mint

  • In a large deep skillet, or a deep fryer,heat the oil to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl combine turkey, garbanzobeans, egg, oregano, paprika, garlic salt, salt and pepper.
  • Form into balls about the size of a golfball. Roll in bread crumbs and deep fry until golden and cookedthrough, about 10 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, combine the yogurt, lemon andmint. Drain the meat balls on paper towels. Serve with yogurtmixture on the side.

    Makes 6 servings.
