These whole wheat dinner yeast rolls arewholesome, warm and comforting!
Recipe: Whole Wheat DinnerRolls
1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
Mix together whole wheat flour, sugar,salt, and yeast in a large bowl. Add warm water, melted shortening,and egg; beat until smooth. Stir in flour, mixing until smooth.Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about30 minutes.
Stir down the batter by beating; thenspoon into a greased muffin tins. Return to warm place, let riseuntil the batter rounds over the top of the tins, about 20 to30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
Bake until golden brown, about 15 to 20minutes.
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeast or 2 1/2 teaspoons
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons vegetable shortening, melted
1 large egg
1 cup all-purpose or bread flour
Makes 12 rolls.
