There are a number of explanations as towhy this dish is called ‘Watergate Salad Dessert’, but accordingto Kraft Kitchens, when the recipe for Pistachio Pineapple DelightSalad was sent out, a Chicago food editor renamed it WatergateSalad to promote interest in the recipe when she printed it inher column.

1 (3.5-ounce) package instant pistachiopudding mix
1 (8-ounce) can pineapple, drained
2/3 cup chopped pecans
1 1/3 cups miniature marshmallows
1 (8-ounce) container non-dairy whipped topping
