Water Chestnuts Wrapped with Bacon recipe

A tasty vegetarian version of Rumaki.

Recipe: Water Chestnuts Wrappedwith Bacon

1 pound sliced bacon
4 (8-ounce each) cans whole water chestnuts
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup packed brown sugar

  • Cut bacon into thirds. Wrap a strip ofbacon around a water chestnut and secure with a wooden pick throughthe bacon and water chestnut. Repeat with remaining bacon andchestnuts.
  • Place on broiler pan. Cook until baconis crisp, turning as needed.
  • Mix soy sauce and brown sugar togetherin bowl.
  • Place cooked/wrapped chestnuts in sauceand marinate for a couple of seconds. Serve hot.

    Serves 10.
