Walnut Applesauce Cake recipe

A great ‘cake-mix-easy’, fix-it-up andcall it homemade walnut applesauce spice cake.

Recipe: Walnut ApplesauceCake

1 (18.25-ounce) package white cake mix
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 cup applesauce
1 cup chopped walnuts
3/4 cup raisins

  • Grease and line the bottoms of two (9-inch)round baking pans with waxed paper.
  • In a bowl combine white cake mix, bakingsoda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir in applesauce and mixwell. Add chopped walnuts and raisins. Stir until thoroughlycombined. Pour into the prepared baking pans.
  • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 25 minutes.Cool in the pans on wire racks for 10 minutes then turn out andpeel off the wax paper. Cool completely before frosting.
  • Fill and frost with a cream cheese, caramel,penuche or vanilla buttercream frosting, or simply serve thismoist cake sprinkled with powdered sugar.

    Makes 12 servings.
