Recipe: Tuna Noodle Casserole
2 cups soft bread crumbs6 tablespoons butter – divided use1 (12-ounce) package wide egg noodles,cooked according to package directions1/2 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
3 cups 2% milk
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese – divided use1 1/2 teaspoons kosher or sea salt, orto tasteFreshly ground pepper to taste
2 (6.5-ounce) cans albacore tuna, drained
1 cup frozen peas, rinsed under cold water to thaw slightly
Makes 10 servings.
Variation: For a quick and easy crumb topping,substitute the bread crumbs and 2 tablespoons of the butter with1/2 cup crushed potato chips…more or less, as desired.
