Recipe: Thick and Chewy ChocolateChip Cookies
2 cups plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled until warm*
1 cup light or dark brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg plus 1 large egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips (more or less, as desired)
Makes 18 jumbo cookies.
*If using salted butter, reduce the amountof salt in recipe to 1/4 teaspoon.
Variation: For smaller cookies, drop bytablespoonfuls, about 2-inches apart, onto prepared baking sheetsand bake at 350°F (175°C) for 10 to 12 minutes, turningbaking sheets around halfway through baking. Makes about 3 1/2dozen cookies.
