Recipe: Swirled™ BlackForest Cake

1 (18.25-ounce) package chocolate cakemix (such as German chocolate, devil’s food or chocolatefudge)
1 1/3 cups water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 large eggs
1 2/3 cups (10 ounce package) NESTL ® TOLL HOUSE®SWIRLED™ Semi-Sweet & Premier White Morsels – divideduse
1 container (8 oz.) frozen whipped topping, thawed – divideduse
1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling – divided use

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Line two 9-inch-round cake pans with foil extending over sides.Grease and flour foil.
  • Prepare cake mix with water, oil and eggsaccording to package directions. Stir in 2/3 cup morsels. Pourevenly into prepared cake pans.
  • Bake cakes for 24 to 28 minutes or untiltoothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Carefully sprinkleremaining morsels over tops of cakes while still hot out of theoven. Cool cakes completely in pans on wire racks.
  • To Assemble: Remove cakes carefully frompans by lifting foil. Peel off foil and place one layer morsels-side-upon cake platter. Top with 1 cup whipped topping and 1 cup cherrypie filling. Top with second layer. Serve each slice topped withremaining whipped topping and pie filling. Refrigerate leftovercake.
