Sweet Ginger Cherry Sauce.

Spoon this versatile gingered sweet cherrysauce over pound cake or ice cream…or serve it as an accompanimentwith grilled or roasted pork, poultry or seafood.

Recipe: Sweet Ginger CherrySauce

1 pound frozen sweet cherries, thawed1/3 cup granulated sugar1/4 cup kirsch (cherry brandy)2 tablespoons minced crystallized ginger2 (1/4-inch thick) lemon slices, seeded1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 1tablespoon water

  • Combine the cherries, sugar, kirsch, gingerand lemon in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil; reduce heatand simmer for 10 to 12 minutes or until slightly thickened;remove lemon slices. Stir in the cornstarch; cook and stir untilthick.
  • Serve with ice cream, pound cake and cheesecakeor use as a filling for fruit tarts.

    Makes about 2 cups or 8 (1/4-cup) servings.
