Sweet Chili Tofu recipe

This flavorful recipe was submitted byJeff Pillet-Shore as part of our MAGGI TASTE OF ASIA Sweet ChiliSauce employee recipe contest. Judges loved this recipe for itssimplicity. There were only a few bread crumbs left after thejudges sampled this recipe!

Recipe: Sweet Chili Tofu

1 pound firm tofu, cut into cubes
2/3 cup MAGGI TASTE OF ASIA Sweet Chili Sauce
1 cup panko (Japanese bread crumbs)

  • Place tofu and sweet chili sauce in largeresealable plastic bag; marinate in refrigerator for severalhours or overnight. Place panko on plate or in shallow dish.Take tofu pieces out of the bag one by one and coat with panko.Discard remaining marinade.
  • Heat vegetable oil in large, nonstickskillet over medium-high heat. Add several pieces of tofu untilskillet is filled but not overcrowded. Fry for several minutesor until golden on each side. Serve with additional sweet chilisauce, if desired.

    Makes 4 servings.

    Haven’t made this yet. It’s important to use sweet chili sauce and not things like sriracha, sambal oelek or chili-garlic sauce. Those are hot, and sweet chili sauce isn’t.
