Super Layered Snack Bars recipe

In more ways than one, these layered snackbars are a super-twist on the classic 7-layer cookie bar…butespecially with the inclusion of salty crushed pretzels.

Recipe: Super Layered SnackBars

2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs (about 60wafers crushed)1 cup unsweetened baking cocoa – divideduse1/4 cup granulated sugar1 cup butter – divided use1 cup miniature marshmallows1 cup sweetened flaked coconut1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk(not evaporated milk)
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 cup crushed pretzels

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Greasea 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, combine wafer crumbs,1/2 cup cocoa and sugar; cut in 3/4 cup butter with pastry blenderuntil mixture is crumbly.
  • Press evenly on bottom and 1/2-inch upsides of prepared pan. Sprinkle marshmallows and coconut overchocolate layer.
  • Combine sweetened condensed milk, remaining1/2 cup cocoa and remaining 1/4 cup butter in microwave-safebowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) for 1 to 1 1/2 minutes or untilmixture is smooth when stirred; pour evenly over coconut.
  • Sprinkle evenly with nuts and crushedpretzels; press down firmly.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Coolcompletely; cut into bars.

    Makes 24 to 36 bars.
