Streusel Squares recipe

These tender cookie bars are made withbuttery cream cheese dough spiced with cinnamon and crowned witha crumb topping.

Recipe: Streusel Squares

1 7/8 cups butter, softened – divideduse
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour – divided use
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3/4 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1/4 cup powdered sugar

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Combine 1 cup softened butter, cream cheese,and 2 cups flour. Spread evenly in a 13 x 9-inch pan.

In a bowl, combine remaining butter andflour, cinnamon, and brown sugar; knead together. Add oil andcontinue kneading until small uniform crumbs form.

Sprinkle the crumbs over the batter andbake for 20 minutes. Cool for 5 minutes and sprinkle with powderedsugar.

Makes 24 squares.
