Cayenne puts the heat in these nutty cheesecrisps.
Recipe: Spicy Party Crisps
1 cup butter, softened4 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese2 cups all-purpose flour2 cups finely chopped nuts1 teaspoon ground cayenne pepper1 teaspoon salt
Thoroughly cream butter and cheese together.Stir in remaining ingredients, mixing well. Place dough ontoplastic wrap, foil or waxed paper and roll into a 2-inch diameterlog. Refrigerate for several hours.
Slice into slight 1/4-inch rounds, placeon lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at 325°F (160°C)for 20 minutes or until edges brown. Transfer to wire racks tocool.
Makes about 5 dozen.
