2 cups sweet potatoes, cooked and mashed1/2 cup butter1 cup granulated sugar2 large eggs1 1/2 cups chopped dates3 cups sifted all-purpose flour2 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon salt2 teaspoon ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon ground cloves1/2 teaspoon ground ginger1 cup slivered almonds1/3 cup powdered sugar
Makes 48 bars.
Variation: 1 1/2 cups mincemeat or raisinsmay be substituted for dates and 1 cup chopped pecans or walnutsmay be used instead of almonds.
