Sour Cream Chocolate Bars recipe

These ‘Texas sheet cake’-style chocolatecookie bars, topped with a creamy chocolate frosting, make greattreats for taking to potlucks and large casual get-togethers.

Recipe: Sour Cream ChocolateBars

1 cup butter
1 cup water
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup sour cream
2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon saltCreamy Chocolate Frosting:
1/2 cup butter
4 cups sifted powdered sugar
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
1 cup chopped nuts

  • Bring butter, water, and cocoa to boil.Set aside.
  • Combine sour cream and eggs, mixing atmedium speed on electric mixer until well-blended. Add buttermixture, mixing at low speed until blended. Gradually add combineddry ingredients, mixing at medium speed until smooth. Spreadinto greased 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 to30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes outclean. Cool. Frost with Creamy Chocolate Frosting.
  • Creamy Chocolate Frosting: Beat butter,mixing at medium speed of electric mixer. Add combined powderedsugar and cocoa alternately with milk, beating until light andfluffy. Spread over cake, sprinkle with nuts.

    Makes 40 bars.
