Sirloin Kebabs with Fresh Pineapple recipe

Cubes of beef sirloin steak marinated ina unique soy, sherry and lemon-lime soda marinade, threaded ontoskewers with fresh pineapple chunks, onion wedges, whole mushroomsand bell pepper chunks and grilled to perfection.

Recipe: Sirloin Kebabs withFresh Pineapple

1/4 cup lemon-lime carbonated beverage1/4 cup dry sherry1/4 cup soy sauce3 tablespoons granulated sugar3 tablespoons white vinegar1/2 teaspoons garlic powder1/4 teaspoon salt1/4 teaspoon freshly ground pepper2 pounds sirloin steak, cut into 1-inchcubes2 medium onions, cut into wedges1/2 pound fresh whole mushrooms2 medium green, red or yellow bellpeppers (or combination)1 small pineapple, cut into 1-inch chunksWooden skewers, soaked in water for 30minutes

  • Combine first 8 ingredients in a largeshallow, nonreactive dish. Add beef cubes; cover and marinatefor 1 hour at room temperature or a minimum of 2 hours to overnightin the refrigerator. Remove beef cubes from marinade, reservingmarinade.
  • Alternately thread beef cubes, onion,mushrooms, green pepper and pineapple onto prepared skewers.
  • Grill, covered, over medium-hot coals(350°F to 400°F / 175°C to 205°C) 10 to 12 minutesor until desired doneness, turning and basting occasionally withreserved marinade. Discard any remaining marinade.

    Makes 4 to 6 servings.
