Simple Chocolate Cake.

Recipe: Simple ChocolateCake

3 (2-ounce) NESTL ® TOLL HOUSE®Semi-Sweet Chocolate Baking Bars, melted and cooled
3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk

Creamy Chocolate Frosting
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 (2-ounce) NESTL ® TOLL HOUSE® Semi-Sweet ChocolateBaking Bar
2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided use
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons to 3 tablespoon milk

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Grease two 9-inch-round baking pans or one 13 x 9-inch bakingpan.
  • For Cake: Beat sugar, butter and vanillaextract in large mixer bowl. Add eggs; beat for 1 minute. Beatin melted chocolate. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; beatinto creamed mixture alternately with milk.
  • Pour into prepared baking pan(s). Bakefor 30 to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in centercomes out clean. Cool for 20 minutes; invert onto wire rack(s)to cool completely.
  • Frost with Creamy Chocolate Frosting.
  • For Creamy Chocolate Frosting: Microwavebutter and baking bar in small, microwave-safe mixer bowl onHIGH (100%) power for 45 seconds; stir. Microwave at additional10 to 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth; cool to roomtemperature. Beat 1 cup powdered sugar, vanilla extract and saltinto chocolate mixture until creamy. Gradually beat in remainingsugar alternately with milk until smooth. Makes 2 cups frosting.

    For the icing, place the dark chocolate and chopped butter in a heatproof bowl and set over a saucepan of very hot water until melted. Cool for 15 minutes, then spread over the top of the cooled cake.
