Savory Feta Cheese recipe

Feta cheese is sprinkled with fresh basil,chives and cracked pepper, topped with lemon slices, drizzledwith extra virgin olive oil and then baked until hot. Serve withcrackers.

Recipe: Savory Feta Cheese

2 (8-ounce each) blocks feta cheese
3 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
2 tablespoons chopped fresh or frozen chives
2 teaspoons cracked black pepper
4 (1/4-inch-thick) lemon slices
1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil

  • Tear off 1 (18 x 12-inch) heavy-duty aluminumfoil sheet. Place cheese in center of foil. Sprinkle with basil,chives, and pepper; top with lemon slices. Pour olive oil overcheese. Fold foil to form a packet, leaving room for heat circulationinside packet. Place on a baking sheet.
  • Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 25 to30 minutes. Serve with crackers.

    Makes 10 servings.

    Wow, I ve never even contemplated savory french toast! What an utterly fabulous idea! I much prefer savory flavors to sweet ones, and I can t wait to try your recipe. Eggs, milk, fresh thyme and feta cheese all soaked up by this sliced beauty. What could be better!? A side of plain yogurt is all you need to complete the meal. If you find yourselves fighting for the last slice, don t worry, it s quite normal. We do that every single time they make their appearance.
