Sausage Balls recipe

Serve these appetizer sausage balls withside of your favorite fruit preserves or jalapeno jelly for dipping.

Recipe: Sausage Balls

1 pound lean sausage, any style preferred2 cups shredded cheddar cheese3 cups biscuit mix

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Combine uncooked sausage and cheese; addbiscuit mix and mix thoroughly.
  • Shape into 1-inch balls and place about1 1/2-inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until browned.Drain on paper towels. Serve warm.

    Makes about 80 sausage balls.

    To freeze: Freeze unbaked sausage ballsin single layer on baking sheets. When frozen removefrom pans and store in plastic zip-lock style freezer bags. Thaw15 to 20 minutes at room temperature,then bake as above.

    I doubled everything in the recipe and added jalapenos, onion,corn and celery. Then seasoned with garlic salt, Lawrys, cayenne, chili powder. My husband loves them!! There a little spicy but oh so delicious!!!!! Really good, added wet pepperbrelish and diced oinions with garlic. Though the flattened a bit, more like mini sausage cakes than balls. Any suggestions?
