Russian Tea Cookies recipe

Powdered sugar puts the finishing touchon these flavorful cookies. Serve them in the afternoon withtea as the name suggests, but you probably won’t be able to resistthem the rest of the day.

Recipe: Russian Tea Cookies

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup powdered sugar – divided use
1 tablespoon water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup finely chopped nuts

  • In a large bowl beat butter until soft.Add 1 cup of flour and stir to combine. Stir in half the powderedsugar, water and vanilla. When well mixed, beat in the 1 1/4cups flour. Stir in nuts. Cover and refrigerate 1 hour.
  • After dough has finished chilling, preheatoven to 325°F (160°C).
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place1 inch apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake 18 to 20 minutesor until starting to brown. Allow to cool.
  • Before serving, roll cookies in remainingpowdered sugar, coating evenly.

    Makes 36 cookies.
