Royal Icing recipe

This icing hardens when dry, making ita favorite for durable decorations such as flowers and leavesand ornamental writing on cookies, candies and other fun treats.

Recipe: Royal Icing

3 egg whites, at room temperature (seeFood Safety)1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar1 (16-ounce) package powdered sugar (4cups)Assorted food coloring

  • Beat egg whites and cream of tartar ina large mixing bowl at medium speed of an electricmixer until foamy; gradually add sugar, mixing well. Beat 5 to7 minutes.
  • Tint with desired food colors.

    Note: Icing dries very quickly; keep coveredat all times with plastic wrap.
