Rich Peanut Butter Brownies recipe

Decadently rich chocolate brownies toppedwith a scrumptious peanut butter layer and decoratively toppedwith a drizzle of milk chocolate.

Recipe: Rich Peanut ButterBrownies

6 tablespoons butter, melted
1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract – divided use
3 large eggs – divided use
1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/3 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 (12-ounce) package milk chocolate chips – divided use
3/4 teaspoon vegetable shortening

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Greasea 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; set aside.
  • Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder andsalt; set aside.
  • In a large bowl, mix together butter,sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla.; add 2 eggs; stir until blended.
  • Add flour mixture to egg mixture, stirringjust until blended and spread in prepared pan.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Leave oven on.
  • Stir together sweetened condensed milk,peanut butter, remaining egg and remaining 1 teaspoon vanillaextract and pour over hot brownie.
  • Set aside 1/4 cup chips; sprinkle remainingchips over peanut butter mixture.
  • Return to oven and bake an additional20 to 25 minutes or until peanut butter layer is done and edgesare golden. Cool completely.
  • Melt reserved 1/4 cup chips and shorteningin microwave at HIGH (100%) for 30 seconds; stir. If necessay,microwave at HIGH an additional 15 seconds at a time, stirringafter each heating, until chips are melted and mixture is smooth.
  • Drizzle over top of bars. When drizzlehas set, cut into bars.

    Makes 24 to 36 brownies.
