A good basic recipe for chocolate chipcookie bars with toffee bits…they’re so much easier than bakinga batch of cookies when you’re pressed for time.
Recipe: Rich Chocolate Chip& Toffee Bars
2 1/3 cups all-purpose flour
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Greasea 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan; set aside.
In a large bowl, combine flour and brownsugar; cut in butter with a pastry blender until mixture resemblescoarse crumbs. Add egg; mixing well.
Stir in 1 1/2 cups chocolate chips andthe nuts; set aside 1 1/2 cups mixture.
Press remaining crumb mixture onto bottomof prepared pan.
Bake 10 minutes.
Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly overhot crust; set aside 1/4 cup toffee bits.
Sprinkle remaining toffee bits over sweetenedcondensed milk. Sprinkle reserved crumb mixture and remaining1/2 cup chips over top.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until goldenbrown. Top with reserved toffee bits. Cool completely beforecutting into bars.

3/4 cup butter
1 large egg, slightly beaten
1 (12-ounce) package semisweet chocolate chips – divided use
1 cup coarsely chopped nuts
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 (8-ounce package) toffee bits – divided use
Makes 24 to 36 bars.
