Praline Pound Cake recipe

Rich, buttery brown sugar pound cake loadedwith chopped pecans.

Recipe: Praline Pound Cake

1 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
1 (16-ounce) package brown sugar
5 large eggs
3 cups all-purpose flour – divided use
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup milk
2 cups pecans, chopped
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Cream together butter, shortening, andbrown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time,beating well after each addition.
  • Combine 2 1/2 cups flour, baking powder,and baking soda. Add to the creamed mixture alternately withmilk; mixing well after each addition.
  • Dust chopped pecans with 1/2 cup flour,then fold into the batter with vanilla. Pour into a greased andfloured tube pan and bake for 1 hour and 10 minutes, or untilthe center is set. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes before invertingonto a wire rack to cool completely.

    Makes 10 servings.
