Praline Bacon recipe

Praline Bacon.

Sugar-crusted bacon with a peppery kickcontrasts the creamy saltiness of Blue cheese. The mouthfeelis unforgettably lush and the flavor is addictive.

Recipe: Praline Bacon

3/4 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup almond meal (or ground almonds, pecans or walnuts)
2 teaspoons dry mustard
1 teaspoon salt
12 slices thick-cut or slab pepper encrusted bacon*Blue cheese for accompaniment.

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
  • Combine all ingredients but bacon in awide, shallow dish.
  • Dip and press each slice of bacon in sugarmixture on both sides.
  • Lay bacon strips on a large, rimmed bakingsheet. Sprinkle additional sugar mixture over the bacon slicesin the pan.
  • Roast the bacon until the fat begins torender, about 6 minutes. Rotate the pan front-to-back and continueroasting until the bacon is crisp and brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  • Remove, cool and break or cut bacon intobite-sized pieces.
  • Serve warm or cold with blue cheese.

    Makes ? servings.

    *If pepper bacon is not available, addtwo tablespoons course ground black pepper to sugar mixture.

    Oh that s a great idea, too! I ve made this very recipe for praline bacon and everyone in the house loved it. We d made chocolate covered strawberries with chili powder this summer and that was too good so I m going to try this addition to the bacon recipe. Maybe the curry, too. Has anyone tried to make this bacon, then freeze it nuke it a couple seconds before serving? I do this with regular bacon. I have so many things cooking for my dinner party, I m looking for things I can do ahead.
