Pawpaw-Pineapple Sherbet recipe

Pawpaw is an indigenous fruit to the U.S.,its taste is similar to banana. It has many nicknames, including’Kentucky banana’, ‘banango’, ‘prairie banana’ and ‘poor man’sbanana’

Recipe: Pawpaw-PineappleSherbet

1 1/2 cups crushed pineapple1 1/2 cups pureed pawpaw pulp6 tablespoons lemon juice1/2 cup orange juice3/4 cup confectioner’s sugar2 large egg whites1/4 teaspoon salt

  • Combine the fruits, juices, and sugar,and freeze in refrigerator trays until nearly firm.
  • Beat egg whites and salt until stiff butnot dry, and combine with the frozen fruit mixture. Beat sherbetuntil it is light and fluffy. Return to trays and freeze firm.

    Makes 6 servings.
