P. B. Chips and Jelly Bars recipe

These fun cookie bars have a jelly centerwith peanut butter chips and a crumb topping. The kids will lovethem…and so will you!

Recipe: P. B. Chips and JellyBars

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup butter
1 large egg, beaten
3/4 cup grape jelly (or your favorite flavor)
1 (10-ounce) package peanut butter chips – divided use

  • Heat oven to 375°F (175°C). Grease9-inch square baking pan; set aside.
  • Stir together flour, sugar and bakingpowder; cut in butter with pastry blender or fork until mixtureresembles coarse crumbs. Stir in beaten egg until blended.
  • Reserve 1 cup mixture; press remainingmixture onto bottom of prepared pan.
  • Stir jelly to soften; spread evenly overcrust. Sprinkle 1 cup peanut butter chips over jelly.
  • Stir remaining 2/3 cup chips into reservedcrumb mixture; sprinkle over top.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightlybrowned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

    Makes about 16 bars.

    I made these in a 9 13 pan for my husband to take to work to share and it worked great. I did use a little more jam. Other than that worked great. He said everyone at work loved them. I am cooking these right now and mine are now going on 30 min and are still very giggly. Temp is set @ 350. The outside crust around the edges are starting to burn. Am I doing something wrong?? Followed recipe to a T .
