Ovaltine Brownies.

These brownies are perfect for picnics,family affairs and entertaining too.

Recipe: Ovaltine Brownies

1 cup granulated sugar1/2 cup butter, melted2 tablespoons water2 large eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 1/3 cups all-purpose flour1 1/2 cups OVALTINE Rich Chocolate Mix1/2 teaspoon baking powder1/4 teaspoon salt1 cup (6 ounces) NESTL ® TOLLHOUSE® Semi-Sweet Chocolate Mini Morsels – divided use

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).Grease 9-inch-square baking pan.
  • Combine sugar, butter and water in largebowl; stir well. Stir in eggs and vanilla extract. Combine flour,Ovaltine, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; stir into sugarmixture. Fold in 1/4 cup morsels. Spread into prepared bakingpan.
  • Bake for 35 minutes or until wooden pickinserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Sprinkle remaining3/4 cup morsels over top of brownie; let stand for 5 minutes.Spread morsels over brownie with small spatula. Cool completelyin pan on wire rack. Cut into bars.

    Makes 16 brownies.

    I ve been known to down a mug or two of Ovaltine in the cold winter months up here. Thanks for warning us about the brownies, though. I would have fallen for the recipe too. It s a nice thought though; too bad it didn t execute. What happened? My brownies came out of the oven bubbling with butter and chocolate-ish preservatives. Brownies are not supposed to bubble with butter. My house didn t even smell like warm brownie goodness. It wasn t a pretty picture. I felt sorry for the two sticks of innocent butter that I subjected to such torture.
