One-Hour Rolls recipe

One hour dinner yeast rolls…from startto the table.

Recipe: One-Hour Rolls

2 (1/4-ounce) packages active dry yeastor 5 teaspoons
1/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon salt
4 1/2 cups all-purpose or bread flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoons butter

  • Dissolve yeast in warm water.
  • In a medium bowl, combine buttermilk,sugar, oil, and salt. Sift flour and baking soda into a largebowl. Mix the yeast mixture with the buttermilk mixture, thenadd to the flour mixture. Mix well and let stand for 10 minutes.
  • Roll out the dough and cut into circles.Melt butter in the bottom of a baking pan and place the rollsin the pan, turning each to coat the tops. Let rise for 30 minutes.
  • Bake in a preheated 425°F (220°C)oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

    Makes 12 rolls.
