Olga's Hot Chocolate Oatmeal Drink.

Grain drinks of all types are popular throughoutLatin America. Inspired by Olga from Virginia, this unique recipefor hot chocolate uses oats and is creamy and delicious witha hint of cinnamon, the perfect way to warm up on a chilly autumnor winter day.

Recipe: Olga’s Hot ChocolateOatmeal Drink

3 cups water
1 cup quick oats
2 (12-ounce) cans NESTL ® CARNATION® EvaporatedMilk
1/2 cup granulated sugar
3 cinnamon sticks
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
3/4 cup NESTL NESQUIK Chocolate Flavor Powder

  • Place water and oats in blender container;cover. Blend for 30 seconds. Strain mixture through fine meshstrainer into medium saucepan. Discard solids.
  • Add evaporated milk, sugar, cinnamon sticksand nutmeg to saucepan. Cook on medium-low heat, stirring constantly,until mixture lightly coats the back of a spoon (about 25 to30 minutes). Remove from heat and remove cinnamon sticks.
  • Stir in Nesquik with wire whisk untilwell blended. If necessary, additional warmed evaporated milkor water can be added for a thinner consistency. Serve hot withgrilled ham and cheese sandwiches or arepas.

    Makes 5 servings.
