Old-Fashioned Apple Crisp recipe

Use apples such as Granny Smith, McIntoshor Braeburn for best texture and tasting fruit crisp.

Recipe: Old-Fashioned AppleCrisp

6 medium (6 cups) apples, peeled, cored,sliced
3/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup cold butter or margarine
Vanilla ice cream, if desired

  • Heat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Place apples in ungreased 9-inch square(2-quart) baking dish.
  • Combine brown sugar, oats, flour and cinnamonin medium bowl; cut in butter until mixture resembles coarsecrumbs. Sprinkle sugar mixture over apples.
  • Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until applesare tender and topping is golden brown. Serve warm with ice cream,if desired.

    Makes 6 servings.

    More crisp, yes please! This would go great with my caramel apple granola recipe! I haven t used my cast iron skillet in a while either . I ve done it both ways and to be honest I like the taste better and I love the extra ten minutes of my life not spent peeling them where I get to watch more Bravo instead ??
