Old-fashioned oatmeal hermits loaded withraisins and nuts.
Recipe: Oatmeal Hermits
3 cups Quaker® Oats (quick or oldfashioned, uncooked)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter or margarine, melted
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/4 cup milk
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt (optional)
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Makes 3 dozen.
Bar Cookies:Press dough into ungreased 15 x 10-inch jelly roll pan. Bakeabout 17 minutes or until golden brown. Cool completely in panon wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes 36 bars.
