Recipe: No-Fat Brownies

6 ounces pitted dates1/2 cup cold water1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder1/2 cup all-purpose flour6 large egg whites5 teaspoons vanilla extract1 1/4 cups granulated sugar

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).Grease 8-inch square baking dish andset aside.
  • Combine dates and water in blender andpuree until smooth. Mix dry ingredientsin a bowl; set aside.
  • Combine egg whites, sugar and vanillain another bowl; add date mixture andmix well. Stir in flour mixture until just mixed. Pour into prepared baking pan and bake for 15 to20 minutes.

    Makes 1 dozen bars.
