Mushroom Sauce recipe

Serve this creamy mushroom sauce over chickenbreasts, beef steak, pork chops or cooked vegetables.

Recipe: Mushroom Sauce

1 cup sliced mushrooms
3 tablespoons butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 large egg yolks, beaten
2 teaspoons lemon juice

  • In a large skillet, brown sliced mushroomsin butter. Add flour and blend well. Stir in milk, salt, nutmeg,and pepper; cook until thick. Slowly add beaten egg yolks andlemon juice. Cook for 2 minutes then serve immediately.

    Makes about 2 1/2 cups.

    I think your recipe has been around for a long time I have made this basic mushroom sauce for over 30 years using button and other mushrooms, its always a good garnish for a steak.
