Molasses Butterball Cookies recipe

Buttery walnut tea cakes, sweetened withmolasses and rolled in powdered sugar.

Recipe: Molasses ButterballCookies

1 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup molasses
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups walnuts, finely chopped
1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • In a bowl beat butter and molasses withan electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy. Add flour andbeat until well blended. Stir in finely chopped walnuts.
  • Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place 2inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Remove to a wirerack and cool. Roll in powdered sugar.

    Makes 24 cookies.
