Moist Molasses Crumb Cake recipe

An old fashioned molasses crumb cake ofyesteryear.

Recipe: Moist Molasses CrumbCake

2 cups granulated sugar
4 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup butter
1 cup molasses
2 cups boiling water
1 tablespoon baking soda

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Grease and flour a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking
    pan; set aside.
  • Combine sugar, flour and butter together,mixing well. Reserve 1 cup mixture for crumbs. Stir in remainingingredients and pour into prepared baking pan.
  • Sprinkle crumbs on top of batter and bakefor 35 to 45 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in centercomes out clean.

    Makes 12 servings.

    Remove the cake from the oven, and sprinkle with the remaining crumb topping. Let the cake cool to room temperature, and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
