Mild Spice Mix recipe

This versatile spice blend leans towardcoriander, cumin and fenugreek suggesting an Indian or East-Asianinfluence. This recipe is excellent for gift giving. Simply makethe recipe, package in jars and use a festive ribbon to attacha decorative label with preparation instructions.

Recipe: Mild Spice Mix

3 tablespoons coriander seeds
1 tablespoon cumin seeds
1/4 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
1-ounce whole cloves
1 teaspoon black peppercorns
1/4 teaspoon mace
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
  • Spread coriander, cumin and fenugreekseeds on a baking sheet. Bake for about 3 minutes or until fragrant.
  • Combine with whole cloves, peppercorns,mace, nutmeg and cinnamon. Grind in a spice grinder, clean coffeegrinder, or mortar and pestle until very fine.
  • Store in an airtight container. Use asa spice mix for soups, stews, or other dishes.
