Lean Salsa recipe

Sure it’s a cinch to buy a jar of salsa,but this recipe is almost as easy. It’s packed with punch andworth the minimal effort.

Recipe: Lean Salsa

1 1/2 cups ORTEGA® Diced Green Chiles
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon garlic, diced
1 1/2 cups plum tomatoes, diced
1 cup red onion, diced
4 tablespoons fresh cilantro, chopped
3 tablespoons (1 lime) lime juice**
1 teaspoon granulated sugar

  • Combine all the above ingredients, exceptthe cilantro and refrigerate covered for at least one hour.
  • Add freshly chopped cilantro 15 minutesprior to serving .
  • Serve as a side dish/sauce for grilledchicken or with baked tortilla chips

    Makes 4 cups.

    *Recommended chile combination: 2 tablespoonsdiced jalapeno pepper, 2/3 cup diced pablano chile (1 chile),3 tablespoon sweet Anaheim chile (1 chile), 2/3 cup diced sweetred pepper (1 pepper)

    **Fresh squeezed, preferably
