Layered Cookie Squares recipe

A chocolatey crumb crust version of theclassic 7-layer cookie bar.

Recipe: Layered Cookie Squares

3/4 cup butter
1 3/4 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
6 tablespoons unsweetened baking cocoa
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk (not evaporated milk)
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Meltbutter in 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan in oven.
  • Combine crumbs, cocoa and sugar; sprinkleover butter.
  • Pour sweetened condensed milk evenly ontop of crumb mixture. Top with chocolate and butterscotch chips,then nuts.
  • Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until lightlybrowned. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Chill, if desired.Cut into bars.

    Makes 24 squares.
