Ham with Cherry Glaze recipe

Cherries add color as well as flavor toan ordinary ham dinner.

Recipe: Ham with Cherry Glaze

1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 (5 to 6-pound) fully cooked bone-in ham*
1/3 cup water

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C).
  • For Glaze: In a small saucepan, combineginger and cherry pie filling. Heat slowly, stirring until thoroughlycombined. Set aside.
  • Bake ham according to package directionsor place ham on a rack
    in a shallow roasting pan. Insert a meat thermometer into thethickest portion of the meat and cook approximately 15 to 24minutes per pound or until thermometer registers 140°F (60°C).
  • Brush a third of the glaze on the ham30 minutes before the end of the baking time. Spoon on the remainingglaze every 10 minutes.
  • Let stand 15 minutes before carving.

    Makes 10 servings.

    *Note: Directions are for a bone-in, fullycooked ham. Also called “ready-to-eat’” or “heat-and-serve”ham. A “cook-before-eating” ham must be cooked to aninternal temperature of 160°F (70°C), approximately 18to 20 minutes per pound.
