Granola Bars recipe
These are easy-to-make, chewy granola bars.Mix and match with similar dry ingredients to create your ownflavor of granola bars. Toasting the oats, sunflower seeds, nutsand coconut increases flavor and give the bars more crunchiness, however it is not necessary. You can omit the procedure and usethe ingredients without toasting, if desired.

Recipe: Granola Bars
3 1/2 cups old-fashioned (rolled) oats1 cup chopped nuts (such as walnuts, pecans, almonds, cashews, etc.)1 cup sweetened flaked coconut
1/2 cup sunflower seeds2 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
1/3 cup wheat germ
1/2 cup chopped dates1/2 cup raisins1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup smooth-style peanut butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (optional use – see note)
Makes 36 (approximately 1 1/4 x 4-inch)granola bars.
Cook’s Notes:
- Since the granola mixture will be warm, the chocolate chips will, for the most part, melt. This createsa chocolatey-style granola bar. If you wait for the mixture tocool down even slightly, it will harden too much to incorporatethe chips into it. Also, try other flavors of chips such as milkor white chocolate.
- For variation use any combination of driedfruits such dried cherries, cranberries, apricots, etc.

I made this today and can t wait for my daughter to try them. Very very tasty and will continue to make it. I notice lots of people say it won t stay together I did not know how hard to press the mix into the dish so i took a chance of press 11 ing the mix very 5629 hard into the dish. Maybe the people having problems need to press it down a bit before they put it in refrigerator. Just a thought!
