The cheesiest-filled, pizza-sized round’loaf’ of yeast bread you’ll ever eat served in wedges. Tip:If you don’t have time to make the dough, use ready-made frozenwhite or wheat bread dough, thawed.
Recipe: Golden Cheese Wheel
1 (1/4-ounce) package active dry yeastor 2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast 2/3 cup warm water 1 cup all-purpose or bread flour 2 tablespoons vegetable oil 1/2 teaspoon granulated sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 cup all-purpose or bread flour 3 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese 1/2 teaspoon garlic salt 1/8 teaspoon pepper 2 large eggs – divided use 1 tablespoon water
Preheat oven to 400°F (205°C).
In a large bowl dissolve yeast in warmwater. Gradually add 1 cup flour, oil, sugar, and salt; mix well.Add remaining flour until blended. Transfer to a floured surface;knead for 5 to 8 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Placein a greased bowl, turning to grease the surface of the dough.Cover; place in warm spot, let rise for about 1 hour, or untildoubled in size.
Divide dough in half and let rest, coveredfor 10 minutes. Roll dough into two 13-inch circles on a flouredsurface. Fit one circle into a greased 12-inch pizza pan.
Combine 1 egg, shredded Monterey Jackcheese, garlic salt, and pepper in a bowl; mix well then spreadover dough. Top with the remaining circle and flute the edge.
Bake for 20 minutes.
In a small bowl beat remaining egg with1 tablespoon water; brush top of dough.
Bake for 12 to 15 minutes longer, or untilbrown. Cut into wedges.
