Fudgey No-Fat Brownies recipe

Applesauce is the secret ingredient thatreplaces the fat in these fudge-like brownies.

Recipe: Fudgey No-Fat Brownies

1 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup unsweetened baking cocoa
1/2 cup applesauce
2 large egg whites
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup finely chopped nuts

  • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C). Greasean 8-inch square baking pan; set aside.
  • Combine sugar, flour and cocoa in smallbowl. Add applesauce, egg whites and vanilla; beat on mediumspeed of mixer until well blended.
  • Stir in nuts. Spread batter into preparedpan.
  • Bake 25 minutes or until edges are firm.Cool completely in pan on wire rack.
  • Cut into squares.

    Makes 16 brownies.
