Fudge Cake recipe

Fudge Cake.

This is a perfect candidate for a chocolate-lover’sbirthday cake; simply frost and voila! A moist and richchocolate masterpiece.

Recipe: Fudge Cake

1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup water
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar, divided use
2 (1-ounce) squares NESTL ® TOLL HOUSE® UnsweetenedChocolate Baking Bars, broken into pieces
2/3 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 large eggs
3/4 cup milk

  • Combine flour, baking soda and salt ina small bowl.
  • Combine water, 1/2 cup sugar and bakingbars in a small saucepan. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly,until chocolate is melted and smooth. Remove from heat.
  • Beat remaining sugar, butter and vanillaextract in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Add eggs one ata time, beating well after each addition. Beat in chocolate mixture.Gradually add flour mixture alternately with milk. Pour intotwo greased and floured 9-inch round baking pans.
  • Bake in preheated 350°F oven for 30to 35 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes outclean. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Invert onto wire racks tocool completely.

    Makes 10 servings.
