A delightful dessert, both in taste andpresentation, of crisp, sweet meringue nests filled with freshberries and topped with a dollop of sweetened whipped cream anddrizzled with melted chocolate.

4 large egg whites 3/4 cup granulated sugar 2 teaspoons vanilla extract 1 cup sliced strawberries 1 cup blackberries 2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips Sweetened whipped cream
Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
In a medium bowl, beat egg whites withelectric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form. Graduallyadd sugar, beating until stiff peaks form. Blend in vanilla.
Spoon or pipe meringue mixture into 3(4-inch) rounds onto each of 2 parchment or foil-covered bakingsheets. Use a large spoon to make a large indentation in thecenter of each round, building up the sides of each round asmuch as possible.
Bake 1 pan at a time on center oven rackfor 55 minutes or until dry and golden brown. Remove from oven;cool completely on baking sheets. Carefully remove meringuesfrom parchment.
Combine berries; set aside.
Place chocolate in small microwaveablebowl. Microwave on HIGH 1 minute or until chocolate is completelymelted, stirring after each 30 seconds.
To serve, fill meringues with berriesand top with a dollop of sweetened cream. Drizzle decorativelywith chocolate.
