Easy Pecan Brittle recipe

Sweet and crunchy pecan brittle.

Recipe: Easy Pecan Brittle

2 cups granulated sugar
1 cup light corn syrup
1 cup water
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups chopped raw pecans
1 tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon baking soda

  • Lightly grease a baking sheet and setaside.
  • Combine sugar, light corn syrup, waterand salt in a large, heavy saucepan. Bring to a rolling boilover medium-high heat. Add chopped pecans; continue cooking,stirring frequently, until mixture reaches 300°F (150°C)on candy thermometer or until syrup, when dropped into very coldwater, separates into threads which are hard and brittle. Removefrom heat and stir in butter and baking soda.
  • Pour onto prepared baking sheet. Coolcompletely before breaking into pieces.

    Makes 16 servings.
