A German chocolate cake mix and a jar ofcaramel puts the good and easy in these cookie bars.
Recipe: Easy German ChocolateBars
1 (18.25-ounce) package German chocolatecake mix 1 cup butter, softened – divided use 1 large egg 1 (12-ounce) jar caramel sauce 1/2 cup evaporated milk
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Grease a 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan.
In a large bowl, combine cake mix, halfthe butter and egg. Stir until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.Reserve 1 cup and set aside. Press remaining mixture into preparedpan. Bake for 10 minutes or until just set.
Meanwhile, combine caramel sauce withremaining butter. Heat over low heat until butter is melted.Stir in evaporated milk and pour over baked crust. Sprinkle withreserved cake mixture. Bake for 25 minutes, or until set. Coolon a wire rack.
Makes 12 bars.
