Recipe: Dark Chocolate CrumbBars

3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) butter, softened1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour1/3 cup granulated sugar1/4 teaspoon salt1 2/3 cups (10 ounce package) NESTL ®TOLL HOUSE® Dark Chocolate Morsels – divided use1 (14-ounce) can NESTL ® CARNATION®Sweetened Condensed Milk1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).Grease 13 x 9-inch baking pan.
  • Beat butter in large mixer bowl untilcreamy. Beat in flour, sugar and salt until crumbly. With flouredfingers, press 2 cups crumb mixture onto bottom of prepared bakingpan; reserve remaining mixture.
  • Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edgesare golden brown.
  • Combine 1 cup morsels and sweetened condensedmilk in small, heavy-duty saucepan. Warm over low heat, stirringuntil smooth. Stir in vanilla extract. Spread over hot crust.
  • Stir nuts and remaining 2/3 cup morselsinto reserved crumb mixture; sprinkle over chocolate filling.Bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until center is set. Cool in panon wire rack. Cut into bars.

    Makes 30 bars.

    Stir jam to soften and carefully spread on top of the dough in three even sections. Sprinkle with the chocolate chips, followed by the reserved crumb mixture evenly over the top. I figure we still have two more holidays to get through! Why lay back on the treats now, right? Tis the season for over indulgence and adjustable waistbands.
