Dairyland Sour Cream Apple Bars recipe

A shortbread crust is topped with a sweet,creamy apple, raisin and walnut filling.

Recipe: Dairyland Sour CreamApple Bars

3/4 cup butter, softened
2/3 cup brown sugar, packed
2 cups all-purpose flourFilling:
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups chopped baking apples
1/2 cup dried currants or raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

  • For Crust: Blend together butter and sugarat medium speed of electric mixer. Stir in flour until incorporatedand dough is crumbly. Press dough ontobottom of 13×9-inch pan. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 15minutes.
  • For Filling: Combine sour cream, sugar,egg and vanilla; spread over crust. Top with apples and currantsor walnuts; sprinkle with remaining 1 cup dough and nuts.
  • Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 25 minutes.Cool to room temperature; refrigerate.
  • Cut into 12 squares to serve as dessertor 36 bars to serve as cookies.

    Makes 36 bars.
