Creamsickle Cookies recipe

Orange-flavored cookies studded with whitechocolate chips and frosted with an orange glaze.

Recipe: Creamsickle Cookies

3 cups all-purpose flour1/2 teaspoon salt1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder3 tablespoons orange powdered breakfastdrink mix (such as Tang)3/4 cup vegetable shortening1 1/2 cups firmly packed light brown sugar2 large eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract1 teaspoon baking soda1/2 cup buttermilk1 cup white chocolate chipsOrange Glaze:1 teaspoon butter, melted3 tablespoons orange powdered breakfastdrink mix1 cup powdered sugar1 to 2 tablespoons water

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).Lightly grease baking sheets.
  • In medium bowl, combine flour, salt, bakingpowder and 3 tablespoon drink mix; setaside.
  • Cream the shortening and the sugar togetheruntil light and fluffy. Add the eggs and vanilla,mixing well. Dissolve the baking soda in the buttermilk and addto creamed mixture, mixing well. Stirin flour mixture until just mixed; add white white chocolatechips.
  • Drop dough by tablespoonfuls onto preparedbaking sheets. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Transferto wire racks and frost cookies while still hot with Orange Glaze.
  • To make glaze, combine the butter, 3 tablespoonsdrink mix, powdered sugar plus enoughwater to obtain desired spreading consistency.

    Makes 4 dozen.
